Privacy Policy

How SATUCC collects, uses and protects the personal information of members, applicants and visitors.

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to members and applicants of the South African Trade Union of Call Centers (SATUCC), to visitors to satuccunion.com, and to anyone who contacts the union for assistance.

SATUCC is the responsible party for the personal information described below.

2. Information we collect

  • Identity and contact details: name, identity number, email address, mobile number, physical or postal address.
  • Employment details: employer or call centre, branch, job title, employee number, employment type and shift pattern.
  • Membership records: membership number, membership status, subscription and payment history.
  • Case information: details you provide when requesting workplace, disciplinary, grievance or dispute assistance.
  • Website information: pages requested and basic technical data needed to serve and secure the website.

3. Why we process your information

  • To process membership applications and maintain the union's membership register.
  • To collect and reconcile membership subscriptions.
  • To represent you in workplace matters, disciplinary hearings, grievances and dispute processes.
  • To engage employers and bargaining forums on behalf of members.
  • To send union communications, notices of meetings and campaign updates.
  • To comply with the Labour Relations Act, the union constitution and other legal obligations.

4. Sharing your information

SATUCC does not sell personal information. Information is shared only where it is necessary for the purposes above — for example with an employer where you have mandated the union to represent you, with the CCMA or a bargaining council in a referred matter, or with service providers who process data on the union's written instruction.

5. Storage, security and retention

Member records are held in access-controlled union systems. Access is limited to authorised SATUCC officials and administrators according to their role.

Records are retained for as long as you are a member and thereafter for the period required by law and by the union constitution, after which they are deleted or de-identified.

6. Your rights

  • Request access to the personal information SATUCC holds about you.
  • Ask for inaccurate or outdated information to be corrected or updated.
  • Object to processing or request deletion, subject to the union's legal and constitutional obligations.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

7. Contact the union about privacy

Privacy requests and questions can be sent to info@satuccunion.com or 063 375 2648. Members can also update their own details using the member update form on this website.
